Chinese proverb for network marketing.

An old Chinese proverb says:

If you want a harvest in one year, grow a crop.
If you want a harvest in ten years, grow trees.
But if you want a harvest that will last a lifetime, grow people.
If we take the advice from this Chinese proverb, we will have an intense interest in developing the skills and the success of our new distributor. This attitude shows in our presentation to the prospect.

Prospects can read our minds. They have intuition, read body language, subconsciously interpret our micro-facial expressions, and focus on our beliefs more than the facts of our presentation. So be careful of what we believe … because it shows.

Why we should learn how to talk.
Question: “I know people hate watching a 15-second commercial. But, I still send them to my website to watch a ten-minute commercial about my network marketing company. The results are underwhelming. When I follow up, most people won’t answer their telephones, and if they do, they say they are not interested. Is there a better way to present to prospects?”

Answer: The weakness of using “tools” such as a video or website is that these tools are one-way communication. There is no feedback, no two-way communication with prospects. The prospects simply sit and someone talks AT them.

Is there a better way? Sure. Use two-way communication and actually talk with and listen to our prospects. Now, in the beginning, when we don’t have skills, we are forced to use a one-way communication tool. But hopefully, we will learn our presentation skills quickly and advance to talking with and listening to our prospects. This is when we are in control of the growth of our business.

How long should we wait before learning the skills of how to talk to people? Some distributors decide to grow quickly and learn right away. Other distributors delay and put off learning presentation skills almost forever.

So we should ask ourselves, “When is a good time to learn how to talk to prospects directly and discontinue our dependence on one-way communication tools?”

The Two-Minute Story for Network Marketing.
When we change how we talk to our prospects, they change how they react. The two-minute story is a comfortable way for our prospects to decide, “Do I want to do this … or not?”
