The two big rules.

 

There are two rules for building a large, growing, and enthusiastic group.

1. Sponsor new people.

2. When in doubt, see rule #1.

How we fail.

We looked for a network marketing business that works. We purchased our new business kit.

But we never learned how to make our business work.

The only thing we did was make a few attempts at “trial and error.” We said the wrong words to a few friends and two cold leads.

And our business didn’t build itself. Our business didn’t work.

  • We didn’t come to Saturday trainings.
  • We didn’t do three-way calls with our sponsor.
  • We didn’t listen to any training audios.
  • We didn’t come with our sponsor when our sponsor went prospecting.
  • We didn’t learn how to give a “One-Minute Presentation.”
  • We didn’t learn any closing skills.
  • We didn’t learn about the “Colors” … the four different personalities and how to talk to them.
  • We didn’t learn any “Ice Breakers” or openings.
  • We didn’t learn how to get prospects to beg us for presentations.
  • We didn’t learn any first sentences.
  • We didn’t learn how prospects make decisions in their minds.
  • We didn’t learn how to get unlimited appointments.
  • We didn’t learn how to stop sounding like a sleazy salesperson.
  • We didn’t learn any of the “sequences of words” to communicate directly with prospects.
  • We didn’t learn how to use the differences between needs and wants.
  • We didn’t learn where and how to locate the best prospects.
  • We didn’t learn how to create prospects instantly with effective sentences.
  • We didn’t learn the sequences of words that top leaders use.
  • We didn’t learn how to start a presentation.
  • We didn’t learn how to build instant rapport with anyone.
  • We didn’t learn how to use word pictures.
  • We didn’t learn how to talk directly to the subconscious minds of our prospects.
  • We didn’t learn why prospects tell us “no” when they should be telling us “yes.”
  • We didn’t learn the first things we must say to cold prospects.
  • We didn’t learn how to locate and create leaders.
  • We didn’t learn why goal-setting doesn’t work and how to make it work for us.
  • We didn’t learn how to motivate people.
  • We didn’t learn how to get our prospects’ unconscious minds to work for them.
  • We didn’t learn how to use stories to bypass the mind filters of our prospects.
  • We didn’t learn how to quickly capture our prospects’ imagination and attention.
  • We didn’t learn how to …


Hmmm. Maybe we should stop blaming our business.

Our business doesn’t work. 

We work.

We shouldn’t blame the “stupid” prospects, the weather, the economy, the product pricing, the compensation plan, or our sponsor.

If we want to drive the new car we purchased … we have to learn to drive.

Reverse goal-setting.

Another way to design our lives is to make a list of all the things we don’t want to do. For example:

  • Wash the car.
  • Wake up early.
  • Go to a job.
  • Do laundry.

This could be a fun exercise for the family or our group.
